The following are books we have found useful for learning about mindfulness.

Awakening Together: The Spiritual Practice of Inclusivity and Community by Larry Yang

Lary Yang is a meditation teacher based in Northern California. When it comes to practicing mindfulness in the modern, complicated, socially charged world we live in, Yang's work is spot on. His writing is personable and insightful.

A General Theory of Love by Lewis, Amini, and Lannon

While not specifically about meditation, this book is an excellent introduction into the psychobiology of love and relationships. It's particularly interesting to read as a parent, as it dives deep into how we form our bonds as young people.

The Art of Forgiveness, Kindness, and Peace by Jack Kornfield

This is a lovely book, offering thoughts on mindfulness and meditation in small, bite-sized pieces. More of a coffee table book than a deep dive, it nonetheless offers some wonderful wisdom.

Buddhism: One Teacher, Many Traditions by The Dalai Lama and Thubten Chodron

This wonderful book gives an extensive history of the tradition of Buddhism. It's not light reading, but for anyone interested in the tradition from which mindfulness springs, it is an insightful, in depth exploration.

How to Break Up With Your Phone by Catherine Price

This quick, easy read is full of practical tips for using our devices more mindfully. The author previously published a book on mindfulness and her approach to technology is steeped in the wisdom of her research. She is also a parent, navigating how to help her kids manage their own screens.
